Purchases & procurement
Recent arms purchase announcements
A separate procurement ledger is being prepared. We will publish individual entries only after verifying the announcement date, buyer, seller, equipment, reported value, currency, source and whether the deal is proposed, approved, contracted or delivered. Announcements will not be added to annual expenditure totals, avoiding double-counting.
Methodology & verification
Accuracy before spectacle.
These figures are 2025 annual military expenditure estimates reported by SIPRI, not today's purchase transactions. The map currently includes SIPRI's 40 largest spenders, not every country. SIPRI revises historical data; future updates should replace the dataset with the latest licensed source and display the revision date.
Annual military spending includes more than weapons purchases, such as personnel and operations. Procurement announcements may be multi-year, conditional, cancelled or denominated in other currencies. Figures are never silently converted into cash spent.
